Maryland Crab Dip Recipe

1 pound blue crab meat You can use any fresh crab meat and backfin is ideal however you can use claw meat as well or some quality canned crab meat

16 oz cream cheeselet it soften at room temperature

1 cup sour cream

4 teaspoon mayonnaise

2 tablespoon lemon juice or lime juice works well

2 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce

1 teaspoon mustard powder is okay and I often use prepared mustard straight from the bottle

2 tablespoons milk

1/2 cup cheddar cheese

1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning

Step One Pick over the crab meat for cartilage and shell fragments

Step Two Preheat your oven to 325 F

Step Three Mix all the ingredients but not the crab meat or the cheddar cheese using a blender

Step Four Gently fold in the crab meat and cheddar cheese into the mixture. Try to prevent the crab meat breaking up too much

Step Five Put the mix into a greased casserole dish or fill some ramekins and then sprinkle cheddar cheese and some Old Bay seasoning over the top

Step Six Refrigerate the mix overnight and cook before you need it

Step Seven Bake the crab mix for 30 minutes at 325

Step Eight Serve with thinly sliced French bread or crackers
