Crab Dip Recipes

This crab dip recipe uses mayonnaise and eggs to give a rather different flavor, and again you can add in some shrimp as well. Also I like to add in some crab meat sticks that add some color and bulk as tinned and fresh crab meat can get costly if on a budget.

1 can (7 1/2 ounces) crab meat drained and flaked

1 hard boiled egg and I use a free range egg as they tend to have better flavour, chop the egg into small pieces

1/2 cup mayonnaise and you can use Hellmans or make your own

2 teaspoons lemon juice and also I like to vary this with fresh lime

1/2 teaspoon dry mustard and I prefer a French style mustard powder

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/8 teaspoon black pepper freshly ground

Step One Combine the crab meat, the choppedegg, mayonnaise and all the other ingredients in a large bowl

Step Two Mix the ingredients well and ensure they are well blended

Step Three You can use a blender on this as well but don’t puree the mix, allow some texture to remain

Step Four Place the mix in a bowl and chill until needed.

Step Five garnish the top as required, and a few drops of lemon or lime juice on the top

8 ounces of crab meat drained and chopped

2 small packages cream cheese allow to soften at room temperature

1 cup sour cream

1 tablespoon green onion finely chopped

Tabasco Sauce add to taste

1/4 teaspoon Paprika

1 envelope Ranch Dressing mix

Salt and fresh ground black pepper season to suit your own tastes

Step One Blend the cream cheese with sour cream, a power blender is the easiest way.

Step Two Add in the green onion, Tabasco sauce, paprika and the ranch dressing mix.

Step Three Fold in the crab meat until well mixed.

Step Four Season with salt and pepper to suit.

Step Five Chill in the frig and serve with corn ships or crackers
